Othentik Program

It’s our mission to empower women and their families to create in themselves the strength, flexibility, and balance that they need to meet the challenges they encounter in their daily lives. Your vision of an active lifestyle can become reality when you follow a curriculum of movement classes tailored to your individual needs. Each class is structured to develop specific functions that will improve your physical, mental & spiritual health.

3 IMPACT ZONES

What is impact and what is the right level for you?

Impact simply refers to the force with which your body connects to the ground or an object in a particular exercise. Like muscle, bone is living tissue that responds to exercise by becoming stronger. All impact activities are all weight-bearing, which helps maintain bone density and increase lean muscle mass. Depending on your level of fitness, the right combination of low, medium or high and impact zones will keep your musculoskeletal system strong and will improve your balance and coordination. During your 30-minute personal orientation, your advisor will determine a starting impact zone that best suits your body and mind.

5 LEVELS

At Othentik Gym, we offer inclusive classes that are open to movers at all fitness levels. Our mentors tailor activities so that all students will be able to challenge themselves safely.

As you progress, you’ll be able to increase the difficulty of your workouts.

Othentik Members earn points for every hour of class they take, rising through our five levels and winning rewards as they strive for the next challenge.

7 FUNCTIONS

PREVENTION:
Guards against injuries to the body and being; keeps movers agile and strong in body and mind.

HIIT:
High. Intensity. Interval. Training.

TEAMWORK:
Teaches movers how to be effective and efficient working with two or more people.

FOUNDATION:
The base of any structure. Without a strong foundation, structures crack and fall.

RELAX AND RELEASE:
The counterbalance to tension.

RHYTHM:
A strong repeated flow of movement or sound.

CHOREOGRAPHY:
The art of arranging movements into patterns.

ELECTIVES:

FALL & RECOVER:
Falling is the triumph of gravity over the body. Recovery is a return to stability.
ALIGNMENT:
The optimal placement of all parts of the body so that the bones, muscles, and ligaments are efficiently used. Includes conscious body movement and clean eating habits.

Private Coaching

We’ve all got our reasons for training. And because no two bodies are the same, the more advanced your training program, the more customized it becomes. Your first step is the assessment, which includes an in-depth medical and fitness questionnaire, body composition index, fitness test, postural analysis and metabolic rate measurement.

Your mentor will evaluate your history and objectives to create your personal roadmap. Since needs, goals, and lives change, the conversation between you and your mentor will play a vital role in your success. Because at the end of the day, it’s about performing at your peak — while living your life. Private coaching rates vary depending on the mentor’s specialty. Othentik Race – It’s Challenge time again! This year, we’re on the hunt for a summer of fitness fun, Amazing Race style. Team up with a friend or family member, and get ready to conquer a series of challenges together. Othentik Kids Camp is coming!

Kids, get ready for some summer fitness fun. Our Athletes of Summer camp is right around the corner. Dive deep into a different activity Creative Soccer, Train Like a Decathlete, Art of Boxing, Dance 101, Film Star Stunt Team each day of the week. Session 1 is June 18-22 and Session 2 is June 25-29. Kids who participate in both sessions will have the opportunity to further develop their skills during the second week of camp. Registration is now open!

High Impact / HIIT and FOUNDATION

Your child will BEAM with delight as they tumble, balance and stretch their way through class. Our non-competitive environment allows children to move at their own pace. The main focus is to learn ki principles “internal energy” while being introduced to unconventional movement. Minis also increase body awareness and strength as they build friendships and confidence.

Training in weapons can save your life! Kids will learn the history and purpose of the traditional martial arts weapons and will learn how to use weapons in a self-defense situation through practical and effective drills.

High Impact / Indoor Athletic Shoe, Gi pants, Sparring Gear / FOUNDATION

Our kids’ combat program is for boys and girls and incorporates Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and later, when a proper respect for teaching and techniques has been established, Judo throws and falls. The combination of these arts produces a high quality mixed combat class in a clean and safe environment. The focus of this class is not fighting! We do, however, support youth competition, provide avenues for such goals, and have a reputation nationally for producing the most technical and conditioned athletes. We do not and will not tolerate bullies in this class and we help to counsel children about everyday bullying situations. Don’t worry, Mom, we’ve got this!

High Impact / indoor athletic shoe, nerf guns & ammo, eye protection / HIIT

Inspired by games we used to play, this class incorporates playground games into a unique and intense workout. The competition may be fierce, but the environment is welcoming, reminiscent of recess or summer camp. Kids have the chance to peg an opponent with a dodge ball, or sink a buzzer-beating corn hole slot for their team, all while getting a workout. Bring your kids to Way Back Wednesdays for a Nerf war fitness game and other activities. *Eye Protection is required. Bring your own or rent a pair for $1.

Medium Impact / Gi pants / PREVENTION

Your children will learn the basics of self-awareness and self-defense against bullies and child abductors. This class has a no-nonsense concept where children will learn how to defend themselves in real-life situations. Mentor Ka’imi Kuoha has taught and conducted seminars for SDPD, the United States Secret Service and the United States Marine Corps.

Just like in academics, class size matters, so OTHENTIK caps all boxing classes at 10 students. Your son or daughter gets the kind of attention they need to develop their skills. Kids’ Boxing class teaches basic boxing techniques such as stance, guard, movement, jab, cross, hook. It increases strength and improves endurance with cardio calisthenics, shadow boxing, bag work, partner drills, padwork, and core strengthening exercises. These skills will give kids self-defense tools as well as self-confidence while keeping them physically fit. *Wraps and gloves may be purchased at OTHENTIK.

Capoeira is often described as being a dance, a fight, or a game. Those who take note of the graceful, rhythmic, continuous movements of Capoeira see it as a dance. Those who focus on the attacks, escapes,  and counterattacks hidden within those graceful movements see it as a fight. Those who appreciate the relaxed attitude and playful nature see Capoeira as a game. Capoeira Angola is all these things and more. Indeed, Capoeira is a multidisciplinary art form containing life-lessons in each of its components: history, philosophy, music, movement, and technique.

Kids will learn basic Jiu-Jitsu along with Kuntao martial arts principles. Designed by the instructor, this class teaches kids how to relax in threatening situations and how to get back to their feet if taken to the ground.

Training in weapons can save your life and your loved ones. The class teaches you to use weapons in a self-defense situation through practical and effective drills. Learn the history and purpose of the traditional martial arts weapons while learning how weapons can be an extension of yourself.

High Impact / indoor athletic shoe, sparring gear / FOUNDATION

Learn and apply techniques from a wide variety of martial arts disciplines including but not limited to boxing, kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, and Kuntao. This class seamlessly combines practical techniques that provide an excellent workout as well as the ability to defend yourself in real world situations. With a strong emphasis on technique and form, classes are challenging but rewarding for beginners through seasoned veterans.

Medium Impact / Gi uniform / FOUNDATION

“Fundamentals done really well are advanced techniques.” Students will learn combat techniques such as punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-hand methods. Joint manipulations, locks, restraints, and vital point striking are also a part of this class, but the foundation is key. Critical skills covered include footwork, posture, rolling, body-positioning, strikes, and most importantly, attitude.

“This class is not for someone who doesn’t want to push themselves,” says Israel Palacio, one of the Burn 500 instructors at OTHENTIK Gym. Each session consists of a carefully designed series of exercises that will make the most of your time and energy. Burn 500 is definitely not for the faint of heart, but your mentor will individualize the workout to move you forward safely and help you attain your goal.

Yoga Fit is designed to improve the health, performance, and mental acuity of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. Based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga, it blends balance, strength, flexibility, and power in a fitness format. Yoga Fit overcomes the mystery of yoga by delivering a practical, user-friendly style, which is accessible, understandable, and doable by individuals at any level of fitness. The Yoga Fit style reduces the risk of injury and augments recovery for ailments including stress, lower back pain, and tension. Yoga Fit is a gift for the body and the mind.

Learn how to deal with violent attacks and other common threats in today’s world. When preventative awareness fails, be prepared with natural reactions that are instilled in your muscle memory. There are no ranks, no tests; this is a simple and effective self-defense class that is beneficial for all ages, genders and physical activity levels.

Learn boxing skills and techniques, designed to increase muscular strength and cardio endurance. Achieve the physique of a professional fighter through our non-stop high-intensity class without ever taking a punch to the face. The class includes cardio calisthenics, shadow boxing, partner bag work and core strengthening exercises. Every class is a unique experience which keeps your body guessing and maximizes the effectiveness of your workouts and training. You will sweat like crazy, build a rock-solid core and burn hundreds of calories. You’ll also develop explosive strength, cardiovascular endurance, and mental sharpness while being inspired by a full contact fighter and top-notch instructor.

Originally designed as a Women’s Self- Defense program, the class has been defined and refined over the past 15 years and is open to women and men. Students receive a full body workout as they practice the basics of preparedness and mental fitness, and learn to handle obstacles and life-threatening situations… this is Self Defense 101!

Get a bounce forward on your fitness routine! Stability balls are more than just fun to sit and bounce on—they’re a great way to improve strength, cardio endurance, and balance. By tackling basic fitness & Pilates moves on an unstable surface, muscles get more bang for their buck. This class is also great for getting back into shape after an injury because the ball can reduce muscle and spinal strain during certain movements. Get ready to bounce your way to healthy!

Focus is placed on precise movements originating from the center or core of your body. Working from the deepest layers of muscles, which stabilize and support your spine and pelvis, results in a strong, flexible body with ideal posture and alignment. Classes emphasize the foundational principals of Pilates while offering modifications and variations to suit each student’s individual needs.

This mellow class will transform your body, mind, and spirit. You’ll be guided through poses that will help you improve both strength and balance.
